In a notice dated June 12, 2025, the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security announced that it is adding 11 new HTS subheadings to the list of derivative products subject to the 50% Section 232 steel tariffs imposed pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 10896 of February 10, 2025. The new subheadings primarily concern household appliances and will apply to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on June 23, 2025.

The new subheadings are 8418.10.00; 8418.30.00; 8418.40.00; 8422.11.00; 8450.11.00; 8450.20.00; 8451.21.00; 8451.29.00; 8509.80.20; 8516.60.40; and 9403.99.9020. Those subheadings cover refrigerator-freezers; dryers; washing machines; dishwashers; chest and upright freezers; cooking stoves; ranges and ovens; food waste disposals; and welded wire rack.

The 50% tariff will be assessed on the above-named derivative products for the value of the steel content in each product. All other tariff codes for steel and steel derivative products in Annex 1 of Proclamation 10896 will remain unchanged. In addition, products classified under statistical reporting number 9403.99.9020 continue to be subject to tariffs under Proclamation 10895 as derivative products of aluminum for their aluminum content
